Ted Spear picked up a guitar at age 17, and over the past 50 years, wrote songs mostly for his family about the “happiness and tears” of working through a human life. Until very recently these stories remained in the bottom drawer while he focused his energies elsewhere – raising a family, founding a middle school in British Columbia and eventually writing a book entitled Education Reimagined. It wasn’t until his singer/songwriter daughter Le Ren convinced him to dust off his songs and record them at her favourite studio in Ontario, that they once again saw the light of day. His debut album, A Moment Gone Too Soon, will be released July 20, 2026.
